Hi!

I'm Fernando

I'm a student at the Kantonschule Hottingen in Zurich. I am studying software development.

Welcome to my portfolio website

About me

I am currently 17 year old and I go to the Kantonsschule Hottingen. My journey through education has been marked by a fascination with various fields, from coding and electronics to the world of chemistry and physics. In my free time, you'll often find me immersed in small personal projects that allow me to experiment across these domains. Through school and private investment I have been introduced to a variety of programming languages including but not limited to Python for OOP, Javascript for web development and C++ for working with Arduino.

During my time at Kantonsschule Hottingen, I've eagerly embraced a range of courses that have sharpened my analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. I've also been able to develop my communication and teamwork skills through a job at the Metzgerei Brönnimann, where I work serving food and drinks to people during or work at the cash register.

The project I am most proud of is my learning-website, which I have made in the schools "Script4Fun" course. It is a website that serves to help people learn vocabulary for their language tests as a Quizlet substitute, since Quizlet has recently added a paywall to most of their features. The website is made with HTML, CSS and Javascript and is hosted on Netlify. The website is still in development and will be updated every once in a while. you can read more about it lower down in the projects section.

Projects

Quizlet4all

URL: https://quizlet4all.netlify.app/

In a nutshell: Quizlet4all is is a completely free alternative to Quizlet.com, a website that allows the user to learn their vocabulary by either creating their own sets or importing an excel list. It also doesn't have any advertisements and wont collect any user data for the best learning experience. Read more about it in the "Project" section in the navigation bar.

Arm-bot

In a nutshell: Arm-bot is my final project for secondary school. It was a robotic arm powered by 6 servo motors, 2 Arduino Uno boards and a self-made wooden structure. It runs a fully self made C++ code on both arduino boards that reads the signal of an old TV remote to move the arm. It can lift up to 2 kilograms of weight at close range and can move on a 320° moving range with a maximum length of 65cm vertical and horizontal reach. This project doesn't contain an URL since its a physical project but you can read more in the "Project" section in the navigation bar.
